ABOUT

Tatyana Emery (they/them) is a nonbinary, Indigenous actor, educator and playwright on the traditional land of the Coast Salish and Duwamish people.

A graduate of Tufts University with a major in Performance Studies, Education and a minor in Gender & Sexuality studies. Their work revolves around the intersection of performance and community, situating the experiences of the Indigenous people, of gender expansive people as central to a liberatory theatre practice.

Since 2022, Tatyana has been working in school communities through organizations such as the Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre and Seattle Shakespeare Company. Their teaching pedagogy is situated in encouraging students (of all ages) to be co-creators in the learning space, viewing learning as a collaborative, equitable experience as opposed to a hierarchy. Backed by 5 years of professional experience, Tatyana offers classes in acting, directing, public speaking and playwriting.
